These are a few songs that I have really been digging recently. All three have a similar vibe and really compliment each other well. I want to start a new series here called Music Mondays. I am constantly listening to the world around me and there is amazing music around every corner. I have always been passionate about music, and have a wide range of genres that speak to me. So as I discover new music, new to me music, or just revisit some plain old classics, I want to share them with you.
What are you jammin to these days? I would love to hear what kind of music you are into and what songs that you thing need to be discovered!!
Here is a glimpse of what I have been up to recently. Trips to AL for Mardi Gras and my grandfather's funeral, great weather, terrible weather, pics of Cash, a high river, and WSMFP!!

This past weekend was a good one. There is an amazing place not too far from where I live called State Bridge. It is a little slice of heaven on earth! State Bridge is a small outdoor amphitheater nestled in the woods alongside the Colorado River! It is always filled with good music and good people!! This weekend was their annual Campout for The Cause. Its a mini festival they hold each year! I have been to almost every one!! This year, like the last few, a bunch of my friends and I filled our cars and headed to the campsite on Thursday afternoon! The weekend was glorious and here are a few of my favorite captured moments!!
Enjoy!
We all came home sunburned, hungover, and happy!! Can't wait till next year y'all!!
I live for new music. I love discovering new tunes that just put a smile on my face. Its funny how a simple melody can change your whole day! Here are a few songs that I have been jammin to recently!
Numero Uno: Steve Martin & Edie Brickell, "Love Has Come For You"
I know you all know Steve Martin as a hilariously funny actor/comedian, but did you also know that he plays the banjo!! Check out his bluegrass band, the Steep Canyon Rangers! I love their first album! Well his new project is with the legendary Edie Brickell (I love her)!! I am so excited for the release of their album!!
Numero Dos: Mayer Hawthorne, "The Walk"
Now this is not a new song, but its somewhat new to me! I just love it. Makes you want to strut down the street sayin "damn I'm fine"!!! Haha Its such a fun one, definitely a feel good song!!!
Numero Tres: Bronze Radio Return, "Shake, Shake, Shake"
Okay so maybe Im a little bit late to the party on this one but that's nothing new for me! (actually Im usually pretty punctual) but anywho, I really like this song, and this band for that matter. They are kind of Mumford & Sons esque. I really love this song, its mellow but upbeat it that sort of indie way we all secretly love!
Numero Quatro: Boy, "Little Numbers"
This happy little tune has such a great melody. Tyler often makes of fun of me for shamelessly loving new age female vocalists, but hey they call themselves Boy so that counts for something right?!?!
And thats all for now folks!! What music are you currently jammin???
I am the proud product of a blended family. Like many people this day and age, my parents divorced when I was very young. However, my story is not a sad one. Through divorce and remarriage, I have gained the best family in the world. I feel so lucky and fortunate. I am very close with my stepmom and my stepdad as well as all five of my step siblings. But this post is not about all of those bananas.
It is about one banana in particular, my step sister, Jourdan.
Jourdan is my best friend, my sister, my everything. Although technically we are "step" sisters, there is actually no "step" about it. We fight like sisters, we play like sisters, and we love like sisters. I met Jourdan when I was eight, she was seven. We shared a room that we painted purple and green, with cherries on the door. I have so many fond memories of that room and the time we spent playing with her overhead projector (yea, that's right, be jealous ), choreographing dances to Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5, and arguing so intensely so that she would be in our room on AIM and I would be in the kitchen. Oh the glorious days of AIM!
Since the time of our adolescent misadventures, Jourdan and I have been through so much together. We are as close as they come. When I think about the best times of my life, she is a part of almost every one. We have road-tripped across the country (multiple times). We have had some of the best dance parties in the world. We have laughed and cried for hours and then some. We have been to NOLA, Vegas, and moved to Vail together. Pretty much think of any cliche "best friends" activities and we've been there, done that, trust me!
Long story short, I can not express to you just how much Jourdan and mys relationship truly means to me. She is such a beautiful soul and I am blessed to have her in my life. She has the heart of Mother Teresa, the mind of Andy Warhol, and the looks of Scarlett Johansen.
Here is a glimpse at just some of the fun times we have had together!
1. Graduation Day 2. Franti Kisses 3. I just love you, Man! 4. Salt 'n' Pepa 5. That's whats up! 6. Mardi Gras boobies!! 7. Big Bird & Oscar the Grouch 8. Cant get enough 9. Closing day festivities
Also, as I mentioned before, Jourdan and I are kind of Dance Party Queens. I mean we once were called Abba. And we partied with Britney Spears!! So if you don't get the picture already, just know that we are pretty widely known as "fun machines"!! Here are some of our go to songs when we want to get the party started!!
I am lusting over denim skirts right now! These three looks make me feel that summer is almost dawning! (even though its snowing right now) I am so excited for concert and camping season to begin!!! How I love the summer, and since it might be my last summer in the Rocky Mountains (more about that later), I am eager to take advantage of every second!!!!! Do you love these looks as much as I do?? Go getcha some:
Okay. So I know the responsible way to deal with a bad day is to read inspirational blogs/pinterest quotes and take deep breaths! But lets be honest, we dont always want to be responsible, especially on a bad day. Alas, I have a different solution!!
Crank your stereo as high as it can go, put on the following song and jump around until your hearts content!!
After all, in my book of medicine, music cures all!
I'll admit, Im a wee bit embarrased to say it, but this song is my current musical obsession. When jamming to it, I instantly feel as though I am transported to the hippest club in London circa 1990! I cant help but fist pump, swing my hair, and jump around like a crazy person wearing ripped fishnet stockings and a crimped pony tail!
So thank you, Icono Pop, for curing my ills and turning my frown upside down!
One of the greatest things about living in Colorado is BEER! It is a beer lovers paradise. I live in a very small town and there are three great breweries right near me!! (Two within walking distance of my house, can you say dangerous!?!?) Well this weekend, Ty and I decided to visit one of our favorite breweries, Bonfire Brewing! Bonfire is one of the most creative breweries that I have visited! They brew what they like to drink and their passion can be tasted!! As a bonus, their beers are often hilariously named, like one of my personal favorites, Demshitz Brown Ale and another, the Tebrew!!! Sheer greatness I tell you! Here are some pics of our outing:

{Ty & I played some intense rounds of giant Connect Four}

This place is truly one of my favorite spots to grab a tasty beverage, kick back, and chill with some super cool peeps. They also have live music on their patio, which is always a guarenteed good time. If you happen to be in my neck of the woods, I highly suggest you take the time to check out this little gem. You will not be dissapointed.
What are some of your local gems?? Whats your favorite beer?
